My very first forays into art were drawing, in a wide variety of experiences, sketching with pencil and charcoal in the old mining camps of Colorado, conte-crayon in figurative drawing, and India ink, and chalk, in large format drawings. I believe being a good draftsperson is essential for documenting concepts in both art and architecture and it is a medium that also brings pleasure in the moment. The hand-eye-brain symbiotic relationship that happens can become autonomous and that is joyful. Today, I am using acrylic paint pens in a linear fashion that still hardens back to early art making days.
